Fifth Physical Activity Workshop
- Venue: Palatine Centre, Hogan Lovells Lecture Theatre, Durham City Campus, Durham University DH1 3LE
- Start: Wed, 30 Sep 2015 09:00:00 BST
- End: Wed, 30 Sep 2015 16:00:00 BST
The aim of the Fuse Physical Activity Workshops is to share knowledge about physical activity research and to increase networking between academics and policy and practice partners. This particular workshop will focus on physical activity and weight management. The context for the day will be set by Dr Nick Cavill from Public Health England (PHE) who will talk about weight loss interventions from a public health perspective. A number of academics and policy and practice partners will then give examples of local interventions applied to different communities and settings, using quantitative and qualitative perspectives, and findings from a synthesis review.
Interactive workshop sessions in the afternoon will give participants a better understanding of how excess body weight affects physical activity and discuss a well-established diabetes prevention and weight management intervention.
A large portion of this event will be dedicated to promoting networking opportunities. We hope that it this will give a chance for attendees with similar interests to develop collaborative relationships in the future, which may lead to grant applications and publications.
This event has been designed for professionals with an interest in physical activity and is open to delegates from academia and the private, public and voluntary sectors
